a one-size fits all solution, PEAT is a tool-kit containing a variety of
tools to address different issues associated with cognitive disorders. Someone with cognitive disorders who
is given an unconfigured PEAT is unlikely to choose and use the the tool
kit most effectively without help. We strongly
encourage all users to work with a healthcare professional who has experience
designing memory books for users with cognitive disorders. In order to
achieve the most effective treatment, PEAT must be individualized for each
user by someone with appropriate training. This is the same principle as
with any other orthotic system. For example, custom-fit foot orthotic is
preferred over an off-the-shelf solution from a retail store shelf, and prosthetic
